Ideal hot tub temperature will vary from person to person and depend on your age, health, and personal preferences. In addition to these factors, there are some safety guidelines that you need to consider when using your hot tub.

Best Temperature for Adults

Based on guidelines from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, hot temperatures should be kept under 104 degrees Fahrenheit because any temperature over that can lead to heatstroke. Adults will often be comfortable in their hot tubs around 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit and can soak at these temperatures for 20 minutes at a time safely.

Best Temperature for Muscle Aches and Pains

Soaking in hot tubs at a higher temperature of 104-108 degrees Fahrenheit can help to reduce muscle aches and pains. However, as with all other temperatures, you should limit your time in such temperatures to no more than 15 minutes at once for a safety.

Best Temperature for Children

It’s important to keep in mind that even adults should not be exposed to hot temperatures for any extended period of time. When it comes to children, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping the temperature at 104 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for children under five years old and no more than 10 minutes at a time.
