How long can I safely stay in my hot tub?

May 4, 2021

Soaking in your hot tub after a long day provides you with a variety of benefits. From stress relief to soothing aching muscles, your hot tub is a great way to rest and care for your body. When you first start using your hot tub, you may have a lower tolerance to the heat it provides. This tolerance will build as you use your hot tub more regularly, but you should take precautions, to ensure your safety.

Recommended Hot Tub Soaking Time

At Young’s Hot Tub Sales and Service Center, we recommend soaking in your hot tub anywhere from 15-20 minutes up to 40-60 minutes. The length of time that is safe and comfortable for you to soak will depend on factors such as:

  • Health
  • Tolerance
  • Preference

If you have a health condition, it is important to consult with your doctor before using your hot tub to ensure that hot tub hydrotherapy is safe for you and how long you should soak per session. How long can I safely stay in my hot tub

When you first have your hot tub installed, it is recommended that you allow yourself to gradually build a tolerance. You can start with the temperature between 98 and 100°F, soaking between 10 to 20 minutes. Then, you can start increasing the temperature and your soaking time. This process will allow you to find the best temperature and length of time for the best hot tub experience accustomed to you and your family.

Pay attention to how you feel when you leave the hot tub. It should leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and de-stressed.

Benefits of Soaking in Your Hot Tub

If you are experiencing stress or low energy, regularly soaking in your hot tub can provide you with many health benefits, including:

Stress Relief – Just 30-60 minutes in your hot tub can help alleviate stress while relaxing tense muscles and encouraging the production of endorphins.

Increased Energy – Soaking in your home spa can help you achieve a better night’s sleep by relaxing muscles and easing joint pain. With better sleep, you can increase your energy to take on the day!
